Savers, you know how much I love boots, and that means taking extra good care of my collection to ensure they last another season (ultimately saving me more money)!
I’ve learned the hard way when spills and weather ruined my favorite, expensive boots last season. But, not again! Coming from someone who’s not a fan of spending when you don’t have to, these tips have helped protect my boots from all kinds of weather, wear and tear and trust me, follow these tips and you’ll thank me later!
Protect & Prevent
Grab a water-resistant spray to keep your boots from cracking and safe from the rain and snow. My favorite pair from Cole Haan Outlet are too gorgeous to let anything happen to, so I went to all the measures to avoid any shoe damage.
Now, this is not a “one-time” thing – I make sure to reapply the spray throughout the fall and winter. The good news is that I can use this on both my leather and suede boots. I recently got a water-proofer from Rack Room Shoes for $6.99 – seems like a small price to pay to keep these boots in great condition, don’t you agree?
#TangerTip – This is also a great idea to use on your leather handbags! I got one with a purchase at the Michael Kors Outlet the other year and it still comes in handy.
Condition
To keep my leather booties in tip top condition, I use a leather conditioner. It adds strength and flexibility to the boots, but not much exterior protection (which is where the water-resistant spray comes in). All you have to do is apply this moisturizer regularly.
I have black booties similar to the option featured above—with the versatility of this style, I got a lot of wear out of them, which means it’s even more important to take care of them!
Clean & Repair
Two essentials for suede upkeep that you’ll need—a brush and eraser! These are used to rebuff the suede and remove dirt – something that is bound to happen if you’re wearing them outside like I do (or at the occasional bar scene…hey, I said occasional.)
I hope these tips on how to maintain your boots help you as much as they help me. Make sure you invest in products to help protect your booties. Especially with weather and unplanned spills, you don’t want to have your favorite footwear be ruined. What are your #BootTips for the season? Comment below and let me know!
