Is it too soon to say spring has sprung? I feel like flowers are going to be popping up soon with these temps on the rise! Even though the groundhog saw his shadow and winter is technically here to stay for six more weeks, it’s about time to start that closet transition.
Transitioning your closet can be super tricky—you don’t want to completely clear out winter items for those chilly days, but also want some fresh spring staples to brighten up your winter wardrobe!
Here are the guidelines I’m using today when I transition my closet from winter to spring:
Brighten It Up
It’s finally time—here come the spring pastels and bright floral patterns we’ve been missing!
The easiest way to start breaking through to that spring wardrobe is to fit in some brighter colors and more spring shades. My faves this season are blush and dusty blue. They’re so trendy and gorgeous on everyone!
Toss on one of these tops with grey jeans and cute booties for a casual weekend look.
Leave the layers
Cardigans, light jackets, and tights are here to stay! I rely on layers during this transition period to get me through to the warmer times ahead.
Lately, I’ve been all about reaching for a distressed denim jacket or layering tights under a cute skirt.
Here are two of my go-to pieces.
Tanger Tip: Always have a spare jacket in your car. You never know if it’ll be chilly in a restaurant or if clouds will move in throughout the day.
It’s All About Balance
Always have your basics on hand for the transition period. I always have multiple basic tees and different styles of jeans to match the weather.
Most of the time, I’ll balance out my outfit by picking 1-2 spring items and 1-2 winter items. That way, you’ll be covered for both seasons!
This is my fave balanced seasonal look I have in my closet right now. My spring items are the white short sleeve tee and light cropped denim. My winter items are my slide on sneakers and sporty jacket.
Accessorize for the season
For chilly days I reach for a scarf and on warmer days I pick out a necklace or bold bag. It’s really that simple! I stick to winter or spring accessories based on the temps that day.
This also helps you dress appropriately for the weather and not just the season. We all want it to be spring already, but sometimes there’s gonna be a cold day that calls for a scarf!
Until Spring is fully here these tips will keep you stylish and dressed for the weather! I’m looking forward to spending more time outside and being able to have my sunroof open when I’m driving when warmer weather decides to stay.
