Hi mommas! So glad you’re back for more. This week, I’m sharing my favorite color with you: black.
Black is a color that stays with you through the ages. Let’s go over the reasons why it’s always on the top of my list:
- It’s slimming – there’s no denying that it’s the most figure-flattering color around.
- No color is resilient to baby drool and Cheetos – but black responds well to quick cleanups with the help of a baby wipe.
- It’s the easiest way to fake a cool, calm and collective Audrey Hepburn, while secretly panicking that you’re unprepared for the evening’s PTA meeting.
Case in point. How chic does this momma look? Pair a shirt dress similar to the one below with daytime flats that allow you to keep pace with a 5-year-old, then swap for heels and add fun necklaces for an evening with friends. Visit your local Tanger Outlets and make Banana Republic Factory or Ann Taylor Factory your first stop to recreate this look.
As a new mom, one of the best investments I’ve made (second to scoring the latest fashions) is a go-to babysitter for date nights. Sure, nights out with my husband are few and far between compared to our pre-baby years – but all the more reason to take the time to perfect a date-night look. This top and skirt duo make for a fun, flirty look. The fringe heels are the perfect addition for a carefree night sans children.
Now, I have a confession. While I will always share my latest fashion finds with you – a big piece of my heart belongs to home décor. My husband sneaks out for a quick 18-holes on the golf course and I’ll spend that time re-arranging furniture to my heart’s desire. Motherhood has kept me in constant nesting-mode, which has made me appreciate Tanger Outlets that much more with Kirkland’s, Pottery Barn Outlet and Restoration Hardware – depending on your location.
I know what you’re thinking: Black for home décor? Let me explain. If you walked into my home pre-baby you’d see a lot in the white and beige family. Along with baby proofing the kitchen cabinets, the addition of a little one (and messy little fingers) encouraged us to look to darker colors. I love black accents. One of my favorite pieces in our home is a black bench (similar to the one below) we have right when you walk in our front door. It’s the perfect height for a new walker, too, so it sees a lot of baby action and has held up like a dream!
Whether a bench, rug or accent piece – I promise you’ll love the pop black adds in your home.
And finally, rarely does a mom make a shopping trip without snagging some goods for her littles. Mothers of sons: I’m talking to you. Please do us all a favor and re-create one of these outfits and share on Instagram using #TangerMom so we can all share in the cuteness.
Thanks so much for being my virtual shopping buddy. Remember to tag #TangerMom whenever you have some cute inspo to share. Bonus points for pictures that include babies and puppies.
Enjoy the rest of your day! I hope your kiddos give you the gift of a long naptime.
