Blush is gaining some serious momentum this spring and I don’t see any signs of it slowing down. Get ready to see this compassionate color carry us through the summer months. It’s been in the mix the past few years (especially in the bridal market), but has most commonly been referenced as part of the pastel palette. This year, blush has taken on a personality of it’s own.
This season’s color report says blush is…
“A gentle hue that conveys feeling of compassion, appearing as if a budding flower, a flushed cheek or serene sunset.”
It’s beautiful when paired with other pastels (lilac is my personal favorite), as well as various shades of grey and darker colors like navy or even black. It’s extremely versatile in terms of styling and works for a number of different skin tones.
Below are a few suggestions on styling the beautiful, blush trend.
This first look is perfect for any of you busy, working fashionistas. I think it’s safe to assume more of your time is spent at the office than anywhere else, so put the extra effort into making yourself look and feel GREAT everyday! An easy way to do this with blush is to style it from head-to-toe. It’s much more impactful than simply tossing on a blush blouse and calling it a day. I’m talking everything from the earrings to the pumps. Go big or go home!
Then there’s this flirty look! Like I said earlier, blush pairs well with darker colors, because of its contrasting soft nature. I adore this stunning blush jacket from Banana Republic Factory Store worn with a navy tulle skirt. The contrast is beautiful and the tulle really softens the darker color to wear well for spring! There are so many different vibes going on here, it would literally work for anyone. Trendy jacket, flirty skirt, preppy top and feminine heels. This is style perfection!
The last look is laid back and casual, but also makes use of blush from head-to-toe. This is the perfect example of mixing up a monochrome outfit using texture. Can you believe these lace pants? They’re exquisite! A similar blush jacket is featured here, but fully zipped. The crossbody bag tops off this chic look with its blush + animal skin combo. Now that’s not something you see every day!
If you were hesitant to work with blush before, I hope these three looks have inspired you to give it a try. Comment below with any questions you have about wearing blush this spring or summer. There are endless possibilities to incorporate the trend into your daily mix.
