I was sitting in my apartment watching Scandal, revelling at Olivia Pope’s exquisite furniture, and realized the timing was perfect. I’ve been planning to spruce up my living room for months, and I finally had the inspiration to make that image a reality. I love the mixed-prints, textures and color palette the set designer used. The picture below is the exact look I’ve been wanting for my apartment. I’m super excited just writing about it!
I’m not talking about all new decor; like my wardrobe, I love finding items I can pair with ones already in my closet. Luckily, I already use a lot of the same blues and greens as they have.
My goal: refresh my living room and rid the clutter, maybe even decide between a new rug, curtains, lamps, or a painting depending on what prices and styles I can find.
Ideally, I want patterned curtains and pillows to spice up my neutral couch just like Olivia’s. I will be on the hunt at Tanger Outlets for a similar pattern and look to the ones I found online at Kirkland’s (only $39.99).
Olivia’s decorative pillows & curtain duo really brighten up the space. What do you think of these polka-dot pillows? While it’s an entirely different print from the curtains, I feel like they compliment one another nicely and I’m hoping to score some like this at William-Sonoma! Thoughts?
Now to tie it all together – candles! Yankee Candle Outlet is having a big sale through the 16th. Four large candles for $44! They’re usually $27.99 a piece – thank you, Tanger. I’m definitely buying four of these to place in a cluster on the coffee table or around the room. What’s your favorite scent?
Now I know what some of you are thinking – “Caroline, you’re going to go buy all this new stuff and be over it in six months!”
Well I’ve had an itch to try something new, and the best part is that I can always rearrange them in another space! Mixing prints may be a stretch from my usual classic, clean line look, but these particular finds can definitely be used in another room if I do grow tired of it.
You know I love hearing your feedback – so please tell me, what do you think of these combinations? Comment below and let me know or share your favorite way to mix prints on Instagram and tag @tangeroulets with #TangerSaver.
