I can’t wait- it’s my best friend’s birthday this week! I absolutely adore birthdays. It’s a celebration that puts everyone in a good mood and if you’re rolling with my friends, there’s no such thing as a boring, low-key celebration. We go ALL out. From dinner reservations and nights out, to lunches in the city and downtown events, we’ve done it all!
Abby hasn’t decided what she wants to do for her birthday bash this weekend, but because I’ll be running around like a crazy person getting everything together – gifts, decorations and whatever else – I want to make sure that my outfit options are locked and loaded. Knowing Abby, she will want something over the top (she’s such a diva! :-)).
The first option I’m planning is a night on the town. Abby is a total socialite, so I’m going to bet on this being her top choice. I want something bright and different without outdoing the bday girl. This white textured crop top is perfect for the celebration without being too revealing. And that pop of orange will look adorable in pictures. Plus I have a bag just like this one that I carry to work, so I can simply use it into the night! Kate Spade New York, you’re a doll.
If she doesn’t want to do a big night out, I’m almost certain she will want to have a lunch at one of our favorite spots in the city. We are the dynamic duo of brunching and lunching (just ask our poor bank accounts). For this, I want to do something comfortable and cute. And if we’re sitting outside, a dress will definitely be the breeziest option in this warm weather we’ve been having. The patterned dress in this photo needs to be in my closet pronto. Paired with a simple black flat or dainty sandal, how easy is that? This can also be a new workday outfit if you throw on a chic blazer, you can never have too many of those.
Abby loves being downtown amidst the hustle and bustle of springtime soirees. So I’m thinking a concert, artist market or a day of shopping and wandering will be on her list of birthday ideas. If she goes this route, I want to try recreating the look below. I have a blouse similar to this one, and J.Crew has the cutest accent skirts that are perfect from work to weekend. And they JUST had an exclusive offer of 20% off when you buy 3 or more items! And remember my inspo post for frayed finishes for festivals a couple of weeks ago? I’ll throw on my gladiator sandals I wore then! Ah, it’s all coming together.
Now all I have left to do is find her gifts and grab some decorations and we’ll be on the road to party mode! Which birthday “to-do” would you choose: A Night Out, Brunch Date or Intown Adventure? Maybe I can convince her of my favorite idea ;-). I promise I will let you know how the celebration goes.
