I’m headed to a Food & Wine Festival (cue the excitement) in a few weekends and I quickly realized that I don’t have many summer accessories that will “bring the heat”. This got me thinking, “what is the best way to accessorize for the summer?”
So, because I wish there was a “How To” on summer accessories that could help me out, I’ve decided to make my own and hopefully give you some inspiration to make your accessorizing a little simpler this summer.
How To No. 1: Have One In Every Color
Now, I know off the bat this sounds a bit pricey. But if you find a statement necklace at a great price go ahead and buy multiple colors! This will save you time and thought in the long run when you go from outfit to outfit. I found these adorable pointed drop necklaces at Rue21 the other week. They won’t overpower your outfit, but will give you that perfect amount of pop. How adorable would this be over a flowy tee and boyfriend jeans?
How to No. 2: Keep It Simple
Don’t ever think that simplicity is boring. Use simple, neutral pieces to tone down an outfit or to bring the whole thing together. In my opinion, bold is not always better. Like these adorable quilted clutches at Michael Kors… perfect for a long day when you don’t want to lug around that large tote of yours. And with these soft colors, they will match just about anything!
How To No. 3: Reuse and Restyle
Before you set out on your accessory shopping trip, take a look at what you have in your closet first. You can always find something from a past season that you can restyle for summer. These patterned wrap scarves from Banana Republic are a perfect example. I have something similar that I pair with my favorite boatneck long sleeves during the cooler months. But for the summer, transform it into a wrap for the beach or light shaw for the office. Don’t be afraid to reuse accessories from your fall and winter wardrobe, it’ll save you some time shopping that’s for sure.
Well, that’s a wrap on summer accessorizing. I’m so excited to try out some of these styles at the Food & Wine Festival. I know my friends will give me their opinions, so I hope they like them! Hopefully my tips will help you out as you dress to impress for the summer ahead—I know they will help me! If you have any how to’s that help you accessorize, let me know!
