It’s almost fall, which means it’s officially time to bring out the fall hats. Hats (in all their different varieties) hold a special place in my heart, as they were one of the first “out of the box” items I began investing in once I took the leap into fashion. I recommend every woman invest in at least a handful this season.
“Felt, suede, black, brown, you name it — everyone should have a few to alternate between outfits. They’ll take a look from basic to bold in no time.”
A stylish hat is a must-have fall accessory and fits right into the Highlands trend that designers are showcasing this year. Fall will be full of lots of mountain-inspired layers, thick lush layers and sultry suede fabrics. Think browns, greens and other earth tones when exploring colors.
Below are my 6 favorite styles of fall hats, with a little street style inspo from some of my favorite fashionistas.
If you’re wondering how to pair your new hat with on-point fall looks, take note! If you’re looking to create these looks for less, head to Tanger (before August 21st). They’re currently running the 25% OFF TangerStyle Fall sale. If you don’t already have your coupons, you can download them here.
The Beret is the essential Highlands staple. I suggest styling these with more casual fashions. Think distressed jeans, oversized sweaters and leather shoulder bags. Tip: Try a center part beneath the beret for a chic touch. I find all of my beret’s at H&M.
Beanies are as comfy cozy as fall hats get! I’m a fan of the poof up top too. Because they’re so lush, pair them with a more structured pieces like a blazer or leather jacket. The difference in shape and structure really makes it fashion worthy. American Eagle Outfitters is the place for all things highlands and takes the win in the beanie department.
Fedora’s just scream high society to me! This was personally the most intimidating style until I figured out the right look… Here’s my secret – pair it with denim. For some reason the two go hand-in-hand. I love this mustard tone too. It’s a great way to bring in warm color to your fall tones. If you’re looking for the perfect fedora, check out Forever21.
Wide-brim hats are probably the most popular fall hat. I actually noticed a lot of them being worn this summer as well. They’re pretty universal when it comes to styling and they’re super flattering on everyone. I of course go full Kardashian when I rock mine, pairing it with oversized sunnies! Saks OFF 5th always has a nice variety of fedoras.
Happy Hat hunting everyone! Snap a saucy selfie in your new (or re-styled) fall hat and share it with me on social using #TangerFashionista.
