We talk about winterizing cars and houses, but what about winterizing your skin? Walking across campus and running holiday errands exposes us to wind and the cold weather more than other times throughout the season. Don’t let the winter chill ruin your skincare routine—take charge with these tips and trick!
It sounds so simple, but taking care of your skin starts from the inside. Drinking plenty of water is the first step in the right direction to taking care of your skin year round!
Tanger Tip: Buy an insulated water bottle so that your water stays cold all day!
Exfoliate exfoliate exfoliate.
Applying layers of chapstick and lotion won’t fix dry cracked skin. Exfoliating clears the dead skin and allows you to get to the healthy skin below it. This allows your lotion, chapstick, and moisturizer to penetrate that healthy skin more easily!
Once exfoliating, make sure to moisturize. It’s important to moisturize after washing your hands and showering to lock in nutrients and avoid dry skin.
Take shorter, cooler showers.
A hot, long shower sounds good in theory, but it’s one of the worst things you can do in the winter to your skin. Try taking a slightly shorter, cooler shower to help your skin out this season!
It seems silly to put on sunscreen when it isn’t hot and sunny, but the sun has damaging effects year ’round. Stay protected by lathering up if you’re going to be outside!
