Earth Day is tomorrow, and we at Tanger are so excited to help make a difference in the world! That’s right — even though we can’t all be together doesn’t mean that we each can’t support our planet from home. We’re always thinking of ways we can care for our environment — that’s why our centers use LED retrofitting, solar and renewable energy sources, and focus on overall waste reduction. Join us in showing the Earth some love from your home this year with these ideas below. Hint, hint: these make for great educational tools for the kids! Incorporate Earth Day into your new homeschool curriculum! The whole family will love getting involved.
Calculate Your Carbon Footprint
Knowledge is power! Simply search a carbon footprint test and answer questions about how green you are. You will have a blast comparing scores with the whole family!
Decorate Your Reusable Water Bottles
Grab your water bottle and some markers, and get creative! Decorate your water bottle however you’d like, and expect tons of compliments from friends and family every time they see you use it!
Go On A Nature Scavenger Hunt!
Take your family on a walk around the neighborhood, but add a twist. See who can find purple flowers, the biggest leaf, five different kinds of trees, and more!
Fix Something As A Family
Don’t throw something away just because it’s on the fritz! Reduce waste by fixing it as a family. It will be a fun challenge to get everyone involved in.
Build a Bird House
The kiddos will LOVE every second of this project! Build a bird house and let them decorate! It will be the perfect memory to hang out in the backyard.
Give Your Garden Some Love
Get planting! From fruits and veggies to your favorite spices — grab the whole family and create your own oasis right in the backyard. Everyone will love it!
Start a Zero-Waste Challenge
Use reusable grocery bags, jars and more! Make it a family challenge. Keep track of each time someone makes unnecessary waste! The winner gets a prize!
Work Outside with the Family
Plant a tree, trim the bushes, mow the lawn, and water the flowers. This is a simple way to love the Earth from your front yard! Plus, it’s way more fun as a family!
Watch a Nature Series
Whether it’s a documentary about the ocean or the Amazon Rainforest — binge the whole thing with a bowl of popcorn in your PJs!
Make a Plant-Based Dinner
Cooking as a family is always a fun experience. Make tonight’s dinner all about plants! From lettuce to tomatoes — it’ll be the most delicious meal you’ve made!
