Tanger Celebrates Women’s History Month

For more than four decades, Tanger Outlets has empowered women in the workplace. As we recognize both International Women’s Day and Women’s History Month, we are proud to continue to celebrate the women that help fuel Tanger’s successes every day.

From our Founder, Stanley K. Tanger’s 1st employee in 1981, Tanger has established and flourished through the thoughtful leadership of women in the workplace. Tanger’s first employee was a female and over the course of her career, her role evolved into Executive Vice President of Finance by the time she retired in 2005. Her legacy along with all of the women in leadership at Tanger over our history, paved the path to success for decades to follow.

From that first moment until to now, we are proud to celebrate another historical milestone for our company, as we honor Leslie Swanson as Tanger’s first-ever female Chief Operating Officer. 

Tanger’s commitment to an empowering and inclusive culture is at the center of our day to day. 78% of Tanger’s workforce is female, allowing women to make their mark across all levels of our organization. In 2022, Tanger significantly invested in modernizing our healthcare benefits and wellness programs for all Tanger Team Members. This included significant cost reduction and added benefits for women’s preventative and treatment based services. In addition, Tanger hosted bias-reduction workshops which explored the meaning of implicit bias and the role it plays in influencing actions and decision making.

As we think of the women of the future, we’re excited to announce we’re creating a program that will not only celebrate but empower the entrepreneurial spirit of the amazing women in the communities we serve. Our pledge is to YOU—to create a space where dreams can materialize.
